Customer: Simon Wallis, Premises Manager, TEAM Multi-Academy Trust
With so many of the GroundForce team having roots within the local community and young families, we were delighted to get the opportunity to work on some projects with the TEAM Multi Academy Trust. Last year we were approached to carry out some works at Witheridge C of E academy, to utilise some of the unused areas around the school buildings and landscape them into practical areas that could be enjoyed by the pupils. It was a requirement for the work to be completed during the summer holiday period before the children returned to school, which we were only too happy to adhere to.
The academy chose to have the areas largely laid with Luxigraze synthetic grass, a product that we recommend. The benefits of a quality synthetic surface really lend themselves for a school environment:
– Low maintenance
– No muddy patches
– No weeds
– Allergy free
– Hard wearing & durable
– Evergreen all year round
– 10 year guarantee
This meant the existing areas had to be completely stripped back, the ground levelled and a suitable base established. As we hold a construction waste exemption licence with the Environment Agency, we can remove and dispose of any ground waste accumulated in projects that we undertake, so its a service that we include in our quote.
Once the Groundworks were complete and the new featheredge fencing had been installed, the new layout soon started to take shape. Edging was used to create new borders, and materials were brought in to establish a pathway and a suitable surface for the Luxigraze to be laid on.
The project was successfully completed on time and it has led to us working with other schools in the academy. We have recently visited both Pilton Blue Coat and Brayford Academies to carry out some repair work and some small projects which included installing a new outdoor sheltered area. Its a real pleasure to get involved with local school projects, we are well aware of the stringent budgets that schools often have to deal with, so we endeavour to make sure our projects for them are cost efficient without compromising on quality or service. It would be great to think that there may be some budding landscapers on the school register!
